Technological Progress and Universal AbundanceTechnological Progress with its idea of Universal Abundance is the undisputed mainstream of our time!... Due to the exponential development of technology, mankind has already received an incredible amount of benefits that have changed both the length and quality of its life in many ways. Thanks to technology, labour is becoming more and more efficient and its results more and more impressive and accessible. As for the environmental and social consequences of technological progress, potentially - these problems can also be solved by technology. Eventually, the day will come when the age of scarcity will be gone forever, replaced by an age of abundance. Everyone will have plenty of free time and opportunities to fulfil infinite needs. In general, we have enough reasons for optimism!...
So is there anything to worry about? Yes, because technological progress has a downside. There are two important facts that complicate things: 1) Abundance is assumed to be material for everyone. 2) We need to wait a little (to be precise, no one knows how long) for this abundance to come for everyone. But, what does that practically mean?..
Material Abundance is clearly Not Enough for PeopleHumanity's life is improving and against this background everyone seems ready to accept that they will not have access to all the material goods fulfilling infinite needs that will be available in an age of universal abundance, but are not ready to spend their life, still finite, without being Happy... Let us give happiness a definition, which is shared by philosophers, psychologists and leaders of technical progress itself, as well as by employees of modern companies, namely: after satisfaction of a person's needs and beyond the pleasure principle, the most important thing for a person is to get real satisfaction from what most of his or her life is devoted to and to fulfil his or her potential during that life. What is the situation with this in real business? Research data from
State of the Global Workplace by Gallup says the following: 66% of employees view their lives as struggle and suffering; 62% of employees are not engaged in the workplace; 16% of employees are actively unengaged and sabotage the success of their organizations. According to the World Health Organization: stress and burnout have reached epidemiological levels! Is this a problem...? Yes! It is a problem of deep dissatisfaction, and therefore lack of engagement of the majority of people directly involved in making our common bright future closer. It is a fallen milestone in the path of technological progress, preventing the realisation of what it still means to be Human in an age of abundance. Happiness still has no cultural value. The happiness that is available to the majority is a brief relief or exuberant entertainment squeezed between the stresses of everyday life.
The Challenge of Satisfaction and EngagementOur findings show that the problem of real employee satisfaction in the workplace and, as a result, employee engagement in the work process, is worth addressing without delay! This challenge is first and foremost in the interests of technological progress itself, because a timely solution to this problem protects technological progress from remaining a ‘thing in itself’, giving happiness of creation only to its beneficiaries, and the rest - only the joy of consumption. The demise of any ideology begins with the postponement of something important for the majority of followers. In this case, it is about putting aside the human essence in order to be realists. Is that reasonable?.. No! Especially for a movement that is unequivocally mainstream.
The Rise of Flow Culture and the Era of Peak PerformanceWe are dedicated to meet this challenge. We use all available avenues of knowledge to move deeper into the human being, lifting the veil of obscurity over the notion of happiness at work and making work a creative ecstasy for all. We call on the teams of all companies driving technological progress on our planet to join the integral culture of Flow State and Peak Performance. A culture that makes the possibility of happiness in the workplace not an accident, but a manageable process of creative self-realization with predictable results. Flow is an optimal state of consciousness in which motivation is off the charts and productivity, both mental and physical soars. We sincerely believe that, being inherently natural to every human being, Flow Culture will take its rightful place in the worldview of all business stakeholders. Acting as a unifying cultural context for all, it will remove the main internal contradiction of technological progress and unlock its human potential, ensuring peak performance for organizations through the creative self-realization of each employee.
